For Everything Under Heaven
There Is A Season
&

April of 2008 Is

Evangelization Season For
St. Thomas Aquinas Parish

It all begins with Pope Benedict XVI’s April 15th - 20th visit to the United States.  The media coverage of this event will offer the people of our parish an excellent opportunity to discuss our Hope in Christ with our families, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  The theme of Pope Benedict’s visit is “Christ our Hope”.

To assist our parish members with this Season of Evangelization, our parish Adult Religious Education Department has invited Deacon Alex Jones, an internationally acclaimed Catholic preacher to give a series of inspirational evangelical talks in our Church on the evenings of April 22, 23, & 24 from 7 to 8:30 P.M.

"Jesus Christ Offers Joyful Hope To All” is the theme of these evangelical talks, that everyone, and anyone, of our local community regardless of where they may be on their faith journey are cordially invited to attend.  The titles of Deacon Jones talks are:

               •   “Christ’s Joyful & Hope Filled Invitation to All” on April 22
               •   “The Fulfillment of Our Joyful Hope in Holy Eucharist” on April 23
               •   “The Fulfillment of Our Joyful Hope in Our Sufferings” on April 24

Deacon Alex Jones and his wife Donna entered into full communion with the Catholic Church
  in 2000
.  Prior to then he was the Pastor of two protestant churches in Detroit for 25 years.  After
entering the Catholic Church he completed a Masters Degree at Sacred Heart Seminary and was
ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Detroit.  He now travels throughout our nation
and the world proclaiming the great Hope to which Christ calls us everyone, and how He wills to bring
us to the fulfillment of this hope.

In preparation for this coming Season of Evangelization:
Pick up a leaflet that summarizes Pope Benedict’s letter on Hope from our Church literature racks.

•   Make a list of friends and neighbors to invite to hear Deacon Alex Jones and watch our parish bulletin for further
    details.

•  Heed the advice of St. Peter who said: “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a
reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence”, (1 Peter 3:15).

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name  of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
